About Anchor Institute (Gems & Jewellery)

India is emerging as one of the biggest market in the Gems & Jewellery sector. 
Gem & Jewellery sector contributes almost 15 % of total exports from India.
India is the largest consumer of the gold in the world. 
Surat, Ahemdabad, Bhavnagar, Navsari, Mumbai are major diamond cutting & polishing centers in India. As far as cutting & polishing is concern, 11 out of every 12 polished diamonds consumed anywhere in the world are cut & polished in India.

Established in 1978, IDI the most coveted institute in the field of diamonds, gems & jewellery in India is a state-of-art school of learning, everything within the campus, under one roof.

Recognizing the Indian Diamond Industry as a major source of employment in a priority sector like export production with scope for substantial value - addition for the country, the establishment of the Indian Diamond Institute was conceptualized and later put into effect. 

The IDI is a Society registered under Societies Registration Act, 1860 and also under the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950.

It is a matter of pride for Indian Diamond Institute, that it is selected & promoted as an Anchor Institute (Gem & Jewellery sector) by Industries Commissioner, Govt. of Gujarat to produce the skilled men power through imparting training related to gems & jewellery trade.      

To cater the need of the industry, Indian Diamond Institute is working since 1978.
